"Aghsaval Choir”

GEORGIA

''Aghsaval Choir'' was established in 2006. An aim of the choir is to popularize and renew Georgian folk music and chant. There are several projects run and organized by "Aghasavali Choir" for this very reason with intensive work on publishing their own CD-albums and participating in different concerts and festivals.

Since 2008, "Aghsavali" is a Choir of Cathedral of St. George Kvashveti in Tbilisi

The following are the projects organized by the choir:

Publishing the digital versions the old solemn canticles, which includes creation of 45 digitally playable canticles. Project lead by Malkhaz Erkvanidze in 2008.

Researching, recording and publishing   The Great Canon of St. Andrew of Crete. The album was released in 2007.

Publishing the renewed version of the album of The Great Canon of St. Andrew of Crete. The album was released in 2008.

Audio recordings of Christmas canticles in several monastery centres.

The choir has studied the monastery of Gelati’s school Christmas matins and canticles and has started recording them in a monastery of Gelati's complex. The project has started in 2009 and is still active. Audio anthology of  Georgian ecclesiastical music.
