Yemeni Chanters Association
YEMEN
The Yemeni Chanters Association consists of Eighteen chanters who belong to different provinces in Yemen. They perform under the direction of chanter Ali Mohsen Al-Akwa’a, chief of the association. The association gathers more than two-hundred chanters from all over Yemen. The Yemeni Ministry of Culture has nominated them represent their country and introduce diversity of religious chanting in Yemen.
The art of Yemeni chanting is distinctive for not being accompanied with any instrument, except for some drums or tambourine. Its words are based on poetry that hails the Messenger (PBUH).
