Dr. Gurinder Harnam Singh

Dr. Gurinder Harnam Singh has been raised and inspired in an artistic family. Presently a disciple of Padma Vibhushan Smt. Kishori Amonkar and Prof. Som Datt Battu, she began training under her mother Hardev Harnam Singh and later under Rekha Chatterjee of Allahabad, Prof. Ajit Singh Paintal and Shri Vasant Thakaar at Delhi.

Dr. Singh obtained her MA, M.Phil and Ph.D in Hindustani Classical Music from the University of Delhi, where she heads the Department of Music in JDMC, and has set up ‘Swararanjani’ a Centre for Hindustani Classical Music and trains students in the classical tradition.

She won popular acclaim and several prestigious awards in India and has given  performances both in India and abroad (Middle East, UK, USA, Europe, Mauratius) Dr. Singh has recorded music for leading music companies and her albums holding their own in an overcrowded market place. Her repertoire includes Hindustani Classical music, Devotional music (Gurbani, Bhajans, Abhangs, Sanskrit Shlokas, and Sufi) as well as ghazals
