Saint Carolus Church Choir

egypt

The Choir dates back to 1910 when the first divine mass was held at the Church as in Byzantine rituals, each church must have its own choir since its very inception.  Byzantine music is distinctive in its reliance on harmonious human voices (Acapella) rather than relying on musical instruments.  The Choir took part in many events and celebrations, most importantly the Divine Mass led by Pope John Bolis II in 2000 in the indoor stadium celebrating 2000 years since Jesus Christ’s entrance into Egypt. It participated in the opera ‘From Egypt I Called on My Son’ from 2000-2002, the operetta ‘Olive Tree’ from 2001 to 2003. In 2010.  The Choir also celebrated the passage of 100 years since the establishment of the Church. It also participated in several celebrations and events on El-Gomhouria Theatre and Bibliotheca Alexandria Theatre.
