Awlad Chiad El-Essawya group

ALGERIA

Awlad Chiad El-Essawya group was established in 1995. It is specialized in the Sufi Essawy art, with its spiritual chanting which is considered a component of the Algerian cultural identity.

One of the most prominent cultural steps for the troupe was its participation at Maghreb Festival for Religious Praise in 2012 in Algiers and its participation in the International Festival of singing in Constantine in its fourth round in 2013 and sixth round in 2015. The troupe had the honour to achieve the second place in the national festival of singing in Guelma in 2014. The band has participated in many concerts and festivals, including the opening of the Constantine festival “Capital of Arab Culture” in 2015 as well as its closing ceremony. The band also participated in the same festival in 2016.  The band played an active role in the protection of cultural heritage and honouring the pioneer chanters. 

Awlad Chiad El-Esawya group is an active troupe on the national level as it takes part in all the cultural events that includes chanting.
